RBI-Compliant Digital Payments & Settlement Framework
DropJet Technologies (Proprietorship) operates strictly under Reserve Bank of India (RBI) payment guidelines, partnering exclusively with RBI-authorized Payment Aggregators (Razorpay, Cashfree, Paytm) and managing digital wallets under the official Closed System Prepaid Payment Instrument (PPI) framework.
1. RBI-Authorized Payment Aggregators & Bank Settlement
In accordance with the RBI Master Directions on Payment Aggregators and Payment Gateways (PAs/PGs) and the Payment and Settlement Systems Act, 2007 (PSSA):
- Escrow / Nodal Account Architecture: All digital transactions processed on DropJet are routed through RBI-licensed payment aggregators (such as Razorpay, Cashfree, or Paytm). Customer funds are settled via regulated escrow/nodal accounts directly to verified bank accounts.
- Zero Card Data Storage (PCI-DSS Compliance): DropJet does NOT store debit/credit card numbers, CVVs, or NetBanking authentication credentials on our servers. All sensitive card processing is secured via Level 1 PCI-DSS tokenized checkout layers provided by our payment partners.
- Accepted Digital Modes: Unified Payments Interface (UPI via Google Pay, PhonePe, Paytm, BHIM), major Debit/Credit Cards (RuPay, Visa, Mastercard), NetBanking across 50+ scheduled commercial banks, and DropJet Wallet.
2. Payment & Refund Agreement
By initiating an order on DropJet, the customer agrees to the following upfront settlement principles:
- Transparent Upfront Pricing: The estimated trip fare calculated via GPS distance and vehicle tier is shown prior to order confirmation. No unauthorized surcharge is added post-booking.
- Online Payment Reversals: If an order is cancelled within the 3-minute grace window or if DropJet fails to assign a driver partner, 100% of the prepaid amount is reversed to the source account within 5 to 7 business banking days (or immediately if refunded to the DropJet Wallet).
- Driver Cancellation Penalty: If a customer cancels an active delivery after a driver has travelled towards the pickup point for more than 3 minutes, a nominal cancellation fee of ₹20 is retained and credited directly to the driver partner to cover fuel and transit costs.
3. Cash on Delivery (COD) Policy & Driver Reconciliation
DropJet supports Cash on Delivery (COD) to facilitate frictionless commerce for local shopkeepers, MSMEs, and everyday senders:
- Cash Handling Ceiling: For safety and driver security on the road, individual COD collections are capped at a maximum of ₹5,000 per consignment.
- Zero COD Surcharge: DropJet does NOT levy arbitrary cash-collection penalties or surcharges on cash-paying customers.
- Mandatory OTP Handover: Drivers collect physical cash only upon verifying the recipient's 4-digit Delivery Confirmation OTP.
- Driver Partner Balance Reconciliation: Cash collected physically by the delivery partner belongs to the consignor/platform. The platform automatically reconciles and deducts this sum from the driver's daily trip earnings or floating wallet balance.
4. DropJet Wallet Policy — Closed System PPI (Non-Withdrawable Structure)
Why DropJet Wallet is Strictly Closed & Non-Withdrawable
Under RBI Master Directions on Prepaid Payment Instruments (PPIs), an 'Open' or 'Semi-Closed' wallet requires an RBI banking license and ₹15 Crore net worth. In contrast, Closed System PPIs are legally exempt from RBI licensing because funds can only be redeemed for the issuer's own services.
The DropJet Wallet operates strictly as a Closed System Prepaid Payment Instrument (PPI) under Section 2(1)(i) of the RBI Master Directions:
- Single-Merchant Usability: DropJet Wallet balances can only and exclusively be redeemed to purchase hyperlocal parcel delivery and cargo transport services offered directly on the DropJet platform.
- Strictly Non-Withdrawable: In strict compliance with RBI closed-system rules, credits or prepaid balances added to the DropJet Wallet cannot be withdrawn in cash or redeemed back into personal savings or current bank accounts.
- Non-Transferable (No P2P): DropJet Wallet funds cannot be transferred to other individuals, third-party merchants, or other user accounts.
- Zero Expiry: Your wallet balance does not expire. It remains safe, persistent, and usable indefinitely for any future shipment bookings across all supported cities.
- Instant 0-Second Cancellation Credits: When an order paid via DropJet Wallet is cancelled under eligible conditions, 100% of the fare is returned back to your DropJet Wallet balance instantly (0 seconds turnaround).
5. Tax & GST Treatment for Wallet Balances (CA Reviewed)
DropJet's wallet accounting structure has been structured in consultation with Chartered Accountants (CAs) in accordance with Indian Goods and Services Tax (GST) laws:
- Prepaid Advance Treatment: Wallet top-up deposits are treated as customer trade advances and carried as a 'Customer Wallet Advance Liability' on the balance sheet — not booked as income upon initial deposit.
- GST Invoice on Service Fulfillment: GST (at statutory applicable rates, currently 18% for logistics facilitation/courier services) is calculated and officially invoiced only when a delivery trip is completed and deducted from the wallet balance.
- Monthly Reconciliation & Audit: Monthly digital reconciliation statements match all wallet balances, trip deductions, and payment aggregator nodal settlements.
6. Payment Grievances & Resolution SLA
If your payment was debited from your bank account or UPI app but the trip failed to dispatch, our automated reconciliation server typically resolves pending states within 30 minutes. If further assistance is required:
